Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Cookyori (“we,” “us,” or “our”), a service operated by LJ Labs LLC, collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Service — the cookyori.com website and our iOS and Android apps. By using Cookyori, you agree to this Policy. It should be read together with our Terms of Service.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you sign up, your account is created and authenticated through our third-party identity provider (Firebase Authentication). Through it we receive and store: your email address, your display name (if provided), the sign-in method you used (for example, Google, Apple, or email/password), whether your email is verified, and the identifier that provider assigns to your account.

Activity information

We store information about how you use the Service, including:

• The cooking videos you submit (the video identifier from the URL), along with timestamps and status;
• The recipes you save to your collection, and how you organize them;
• Reports or feedback you choose to submit about a recipe, including any comment text.

Some preferences (for example, which recipes you mark as favorites in the mobile apps) are stored only on your device and are not sent to our servers.

Usage analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase on the website and in the mobile apps to understand how the Service is used — events such as submitting a video, saving a recipe, or opening a screen, along with approximate device and app information (device model, operating system, app version, coarse location derived by Google). When you are signed in, these events are associated with your account identifier so we can understand usage across your devices. Google acts as our processor for this data; see Google’s Privacy Policy for how Google handles it.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We aim to collect only what the Service needs. Our own databases do not record your IP address or device fingerprints, and we do not store your sign-in tokens — those are issued and checked by our identity provider. We do not use advertising or payment-processing services, and we do not embed their software in the Service.

3. How We Use Information

• To provide the core Service — turning videos into structured recipes and saving them;
• To operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service;
• To respond to your reports, requests, and support messages;
• To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

4. How Information Is Shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run the Service:

• AI processing providers: to structure and translate recipes, we send the video’s transcript text and low-resolution video frames for automated analysis. We do not send your account identity, email, or the video URL to these providers.
• Video platforms: to fetch a video’s captions and public information, we request them from the platform (for example, YouTube) using the video URL you submitted.
• Authentication provider (Firebase, by Google): to create and verify your account.
• Analytics provider (Google Analytics for Firebase): receives the usage events described in Section 1 and processes them on our behalf.
• Retailer links: ingredient “shop” buttons open a search on a retailer’s site (currently Amazon) in your browser. The link includes the ingredient name and our affiliate tag — we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases — but not your identity. Once you leave the Service, the retailer’s own privacy policy applies.
• Legal and safety: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of the Service and its users.

Some processing runs on our own servers rather than through an outside provider — for example, transcribing a video’s audio when no usable captions exist. Content processed that way is not shared with any third party.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. Sign-in uses tokens issued by our identity provider, which we do not store on our servers. On the website, Google Analytics may use cookies or similar local-storage identifiers to measure usage as described in Section 1; in the mobile apps it uses an app-instance identifier instead.

6. Data Retention

We keep account and activity information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When your account is deleted (see Section 7), we delete or de-identify information associated with you, except for copies retained in routine backups or as required by law. Note that structured recipes are shared across all users who submit the same video and are not personal to you; deleting your account does not remove those shared recipes.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You can review and update your account information and delete saved recipes at any time. To delete your account or other data, follow the steps on our account deletion page. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information. As a matter of good practice — and not as an admission that any specific statutory threshold applies — we extend the following CCPA-style choices to all users: the right to know what personal information we hold about you, the right to request its deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, contact us at contact@ljtechlabs.com; we may need to verify your identity first.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us at contact@ljtechlabs.com and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your location.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Changes are effective when posted, and your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Policy.
